Iraq Sectarian Killings in Iraq Raise Fears of Civil War by Peter Kenyon
All Things Considered, May 17, 2005 · The nature of violence in Iraq is becoming increasingly sectarian, with Sunni and Shiite clergymen among the latest victims. Some Iraqis fear a cycle of sectarian revenge killings could be under way.

Prime Minister Jaafari spokesman Laith Kubba re-enforced that theme today portraying the Prime Minister and Sustani as united in a message of peace. "It is not the sunnis who are committing these crimes. We know it is a very small group that specifically wants to provoke that sectarian strife, and that's the reason Ayatollah al-Sistani calls upon Shiites and Sunnis to stick together and go after the real network..."
