A third former Boeing Co. official was charged Tuesday in the alleged theft of sensitive materials from rival Lockheed Martin Corp. during a competition for a $1.88 billion satellite launching contract.
Larry Satchell, 65, was charged with conspiracy, obstruction of justice, theft of trade secrets and violation of the Procurement Integrity Act, federal prosecutors said. Satchell is retired. His attorney could not be reached for comment.
In August, Kenneth Branch and William Erskine pleaded not guilty to charges they plotted to secure trade secrets from Lockheed. Boeing fired the pair in 1999 after an internal probe.
Also Tuesday, Pentagon auditors said they are reviewing whether Chicago-based Boeing overcharged the Air Force "by a significant amount" on a $1.3 billion contract to upgrade NATO surveillance aircraft.
The audit will be completed by June 30 and will be used to press for refunds if overcharging is proven, defense officials told Bloomberg News.
