Tehran has so far returned remains of 5,323 Iraqi soldiers, while Baghdad has delivered the remains of 3,998 Iranian soldiers, Iraq's foreign ministry said. The war left more than a million soldiers dead or wounded. Officials from both countries will meet on Monday in Baghdad for talks on exchanging the remains of an unspecified number of soldiers, the statement said. The exchange of remains will be on Tuesday, it said. Another joint-committee will hold talks on Monday in the Iraqi capital on returning refugees to both countries. Iraq has reported the return of 6,766 Iraqis, most of whom took refuge in Iran during the 1991 Gulf War and the revolt in southern and northern Iraq that followed the conflict.
