The explosion took place in a commercial area, sending smoke billowing over concrete buildings. It came two days after officials lifted a curfew aimed at preventing retaliatory violence following last week's bombing of a Shiite mosque in Samarra. Police and hospital officials say the toll could rise as bodies are pulled from the debris.
