Iraqi Ambassador to Moscow Disproves Reports That Occupation Troops Entered Baghdad

Iraqi Ambassador to Moscow Abbas Khalaf has disproved reports that the occupation troops had entered Baghdad. It is a "deception" meant "to distract the public" from the losses inflicted on the US-UK coalition in Iraq, he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The area around the Saddam airport is the venue of "severe fighting," and "American troops are suffering enormous losses," he said. A coalition tank echelon "is completely isolated from the outer world," the Iraqi diplomat maintains.

Today, the Iraqi Information Minister will brief journalists on the progress of the military action in this area, he said.

The Iraqi army "is resolved to give a rebuff to the occupation force," the ambassador announced.
