It is a "deception" meant "to distract the public" from the losses inflicted on the US-UK coalition in Iraq, he said in an interview with RIA Novosti. The area around the Saddam airport is the venue of "severe fighting," and "American troops are suffering enormous losses," he said. A coalition tank echelon "is completely isolated from the outer world," the Iraqi diplomat maintains. Today, the Iraqi Information Minister will brief journalists on the progress of the military action in this area, he said.
