A British TV presenter today describes how she was groped by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In a devasting interview that could sink the Hollywood actor's bid to become the next governor of California, LWT presenter Anna Richardson claims he ran his hand over her breast in a suite at the Dorchester Hotel.
Richardson, who presents a film programme, is one of six women identified in a major investigation by an American newspaper into the actor's alleged sexual misconduct towards women,
She tells the Los Angeles Times that Schwarzeneggger, who faces the polls in just five days, first asked her "If your breasts are real."
The encounter came in December 2000 when Richardson was interviewing the star on The Big Screen about his new film, The Sixth Day.
In an interview with the LA Times, she says that in early encounters the actor had been "a perfect gentleman." "This time was quite different," she says. "He was already kind of hyped up. He kept looking at my breasts, kept asking if I worked out.
"I went to shake his hand and he grabbed me onto his knee and he said, 'Before you go, I want to know if your breasts are real'."
Richardson, who was 29 at the time, said she looked around the room for help, but no one came to her assistance. "At that point, he circled my left nipple with his finger and he said, 'Yes they are real'," she concludes.
Schwarzenegger's campaign team insists that it was Richardson who provocatively approached the star, cupping her right breast and saying, "What do you think of these?"
In other interviews, three of the women describe their shock when the actor-turned-politican grabbed their breasts. Another claimed Schwarzenegger reached under her skirt and grabbed her buttocks.
One woman described an attempt by the star to take off her swimming costume in an hotel lift, while the sixth said he had pulled her onto his lap during filming of Terminator 2 and, the newspaper reports, "asked whether a certain sexual act had ever been performed on her".
The incidents are said to have started in the 1970s, with the latest in 2000.
The revelations will be seen by Schwarzenegger's team as a "dirty tricks" campaign. They believe Democrats are increasingly desperate as opinion polls show the Republican star pulling ahead in the opinion polls before next Tuesday's election.
The actor's campaign spokesman, Sean Walsh, said Democrats "are using this to hurt Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaign." But he did not deny the allegations, saying only that the Terminator star would not be commenting.
Four of the women insisted on anonymity before speaking out, with one saying: "Did he rape me? No. Did he humiliate me? You bet he did."
In the earliest incident, the ex-wife of bodybuilder Laine Stockton says Schwarzenegger came up behind her and put his hand under her T-shirt, cradling her breast.
Another woman, a waitress and beach volleyball player, says he promised her "a lot of fun in half an hour" before grabbing her.
