Senator Clinton to Co-Sponsor Net Neutrality Bill
Steve Marshall Reporting KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO WASHINGTON, DC (KNX) -- Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) has announced her support for the Dorgan-Snowe Internet neutrality law. So much so that she intends to co-sponsor it.
"I support net neutrality," said Clinton in a press release. "The open architecture of the Internet has been the critical element that has made it the most revolutionary communications medium since the advent of the television."
Clinton said she believes that maintaining an open Internet coupled with more broadband access is necessary if we are to meet the promise and the potential of the Internet to disseminate ideas and information, enhance learning, education and business opportunities for all Americans and improve and uplift the nation's citizenry.
The junior senator from New York stressed that an open and non-discriminatory framework is essential for the Internet of the 21st century.
The bi-partisan measure, drafted by Senators Byron Dorgan (D-ND) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME), ensures the neutrality of the Internet as Congress debates telecommunications reform.
