Spain Charges Moroccan in Connection with 9/11 Attacks VOA News 28 Apr 2004, 19:25 UTC A Spanish judge has charged a Moroccan fugitive in connection with the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. Judge Baltasar Garzon says Amer Azizi helped plan the attacks by helping organize a meeting in Spain of al-Qaida operatives.
They included Mohamed Atta, who is believed to be the ringleader of the terrorists who hijacked four airliners and flew three of them into New York's World Trade Center and the Pentagon, outside Washington. The fourth aircraft crashed in western Pennsylvania.
Spanish authorities had previously charged Mr. Azizi with membership in a terrorist organization.
