The first blast occurred at the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in an upmarket area of the city on Thursday night, causing major damage to the mezzanine floor of the outlet and shattering windowpanes, officials said. At least seven people, including a girl, were injured by flying glass, local media quoted witnesses as saying. The windscreens of three cars parked outside the fast food restaurant were also samshed due to the impact of the blast. Eight minutes later, a second device went off outside the Mcdonalds restaurant in the Karachi seafront, where some 80 people were dining. The explosion occurred in the rear portion, outside the kitchen, media reports said adding, at least four people received injuries. "It is an act of terrorism, but at this stage it is premature to comment on the exact motives,"Karachi police chief Tariq Jameel was quoted as saying by The News.
