Cairo's suicide bomber identified

Cairo, Egypt, Apr. 11 (UPI) -- Egyptian authorities have identified the bomber of a tourist area in central Cairo who killed three foreigners last week, the interior ministry said Monday.

A ministry statement said investigators identified the bomber through DNA and fingerprints.

The bomber was identified as Hassan Raafat Ahmed Bashandi, 18, a student at the school of engineering at the University of Zakazik in Cairo.

Police arrested the bomber's mother and two of his brothers for interrogation.

Security sources said at least 30 people have been rounded up by police in the past two days for interrogation, including three students in the school of engineering.

Two groups have claimed responsibility for the attack, notably the Brigades of Pride in the Land of the Nile and Jund al-Sham.

The bombing last Thursday killed two Frenchmen and an American and wounded 18 others, including 11 foreigners and seven Egyptians.
