Lt. Gen. John Sattler, commander of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, made the remarks at a U.S. base near Fallujah, which lies 40 miles west of Baghdad. "Right now it looks like we've lost 31 coalition warriors who've fallen in combat, soldiers and Marines, and six Iraqi warriors who are fighting side by side with us," he said. The number of injured U.S. troops was "up in the high 200s," Sattler said. Some of them have been returned to duty already, he said. Earlier, U.S. commanders said more than 1,200 guerrillas have been killed during the American assault that started Monday.
