The attack, in the town of Baquba, happened in the early morning as Iraqis queued to enter the site for work. A car crashed into cement barriers outside the base and burst into flames. The US military confirmed that a soldier had been killed and said that two Iraqis were wounded. A spokesman at the hospital said the number of injured was at least 16. There has been an increase in the number of attacks on military targets since the appointment of Iraq's new interim government last week.
