Translation: The Slave Trade
The slave trade is a scourge that has ravaged Africa for three centuries until it was banned in 1848 by the whole of Europe. It generated a depopulation of the best African elements thus involving a strong fall of the demographic rate but especially an intense hatred between the various ethnic groups which led to many tribal wars. Indeed, Europeans, hesitating to venture in the grounds, preferred to pay African to obtain slaves. Soon, major manhunts developed between the different ethnic groups and led to the migration of the weakest. The opinion of the experts is divided, they estimate the number of slaves captured between 20 and 100 million on the whole of the continent.
