BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The United States and its allies have resolved sharp differences over how to manage the falling dollar.

The agreement comes at the end of two days of talks in Florida.

Participants dealt with the best approach on how to deal with a dollar that has slumped to record lows in recent weeks against the euro -- the common currency of 12 European countries.

The group also endorsed continued cooperative efforts to promote sustained global growth. There were also pledges of support in efforts to cut the foreign debt burdens of war-torn Iraq and Afghanistan.

Protesters at the event said that the meeting signified globalization without representation, and that the leaders were establishing a global economic policy that does not reflect the interests of the people who are most impacted.

The G-7 nations include the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Britain, Canada and Italy.
