Report: Wal-Mart Customers May Have Been Overcharged
POSTED: 10:24 pm EST April 3, 2004
DENVER -- If you shopped at Wal-Mart earlier this week, you had better check your bill.
KUSA TV in Denver reports that hundreds of thousands of credit card holders who shopped at Wal-Mart on Wednesday may have been overcharged.
In some cases, people were triple-charged for the same transaction.
According to KUSA, the problem was traced to a computer glitch at the First Data Corp. in Denver that handled the transactions.
First Data says some $800,000 credit card charges were affected nationwide.
A First Data spokeswoman says the problem has been fixed.
If you have questions about your bill, you can call (888) 893-0626.
First Data has apologized to Wal-Mart and its customers.
