Bush's daughters face new drinking claim 07/05/2003 - 19:17:08
United States President George Bush’s twin daughters today faced more speculation about their partying lifestyle from a Hollywood actor.
Just Married star Ashton Kutcher said Jenna and Barbara Bush spent an evening drinking in his home when they were still under age.
The actor told Rolling Stones magazine he invited the President’s daughters round after meeting them at a Los Angeles party a year ago.
“The Bushes were underage drinking at my house,” he said.
“And then I go upstairs to see another friend and I can smell the green wafting out under his door. I open the door, and there he is smoking out the Bush twins on his hookah.”
Jenna, a student at Texas University, and Barbara, who is at Yale, were dubbed “Jenna and Tonic” by the US press after police were called when they ordered margaritas at a Mexican restaurant in Austin, Texas, in May 2001.
The charges were dropped when they agreed to perform community service and attend alcohol awareness classes.
A month earlier Jenna had pleaded no contest to charges of under-age drinking.
The twins turned 21 – the legal drinking age in the US – in November last year.
