David Williamson wrote in a letter this week that Muhammad told him he may have been framed by the FBI (website) . Muhammad claims he knew that former Attorney General John Ashcroft was involved in a "conspiracy" that led to the 9-11 attacks. Williamson recommended a thorough mental health evaluation for Muhammad to determine whether he's competent to stand trial. He wrote that he believes Muhammad suffers from manic depression and that Muhammad has "strongly held beliefs that may be delusions." The letter was submitted into Muhammad's file at the request of the public defenders who represented Muhammad until he fired them last month. Copyright 2006 by The Associated Press.
